There are some food combinations that can take an entire dish to a whole new level. However, more often than not, we end up mindlessly combining two different kinds of food that should never be eaten together, in the first place.
While some of such food combinations don’t sit well with your stomach, others create a certain kind of reaction in your body, which is nothing short of harmful. However, not many actually know even about the potential threats that they occasionally consume, while being out or at home.
So, we thought of listing down such food combinations that come with their own set of warnings and should definitely be avoided.
1. Yogurt and Fruits
Yogurt and fruits are a delicious food combination, and they are also a combination that has been regularly consumed by millions of people all around, however, it shouldn’t be. Protein-rich yogurt comes in contact with acidic fruit, it diminishes digestive fibers, produces toxins and may even lead to cold allergies.
2. Sprite and Banana
You don’t even have to consume this food combination, simultaneously, in order to see the repercussions. What now has become a popular food challenge on social media, is extremely deadly. The combination of proteins in Banana and the carbon dioxide in sprite cause foaming and the foam has only one way out of your stomach – vomiting – and that’s how it comes out.
3. Lemons and Cough Syrup
Lemons are known to block the enzymes that are required to break down cough suppressants, and if they are not broken down then the medicine can build up in the bloodstream, causing various side effects.
4. Meat and Cheese
Another food combination that might lead you on to the path of vomiting, is that of meat and cheese. Both the food items are rich in proteins and if you consume both of them simultaneously, load of proteins in the body can increase, and thereby increase the protein load on the liver.
5. Apple Juice and Allergy Medicines
There are times when we take our medicines with any available liquid around us, however, doing the same with apple juice and allergy medicines, is not at all advisable. The nectar from apples affects the absorption of the allergy medicine in the bloodstream. Through this, the medicine immediately becomes 70% less effective.
6. Juice and Muffins
This is another breakfast favourite food combination of many out there, and it would leave you feeling tired the entire day after consuming it. Consuming this combination for breakfast replaces all the proteins and fibre that you need to start your day with an excess of carbohydrates. What this does is that it will kick your blood sugar almost immediately after consuming it, however, it will crash soon after.
