Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, the current leader of sub-Rs 15,000 segment in India which has sold millions and millions of units and has completely demolished each and every challenge posed by any other competitor in this segment.

However, the one thing that Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 lacked was Android 7.0 Nougat and there is a good news for the users as the Chinese Manufacturer has started rolling out the OS Update with through MIUI version 8.5.4.

However, the update arrives via OTA, and not all the users seem to have received it yet as Xiaomi is bringing the Android 7.0 Naugatv update in batches. While it weighs in at around 1.3GB and is currently being rolled out to Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 users in Greece, users might notice big changes compared to the MIUI-based on Marshmallow.

Android 7.0 Nougat Update for Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 comes along with July Android security patch and is also said to bring features like split screen mode, quick reply to notifications, quick switch apps feature and more.

The sad part is, this update is not based on MIUI 9 and moreover, on August 11, it is expected that MIUI 9 will come to Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, but only for the Chinese variants. However, with the Nougat update, the device will be able to support Xiaomi’s new UI and if the company decides to roll it out in India, later.

Last month, Xiaomi revealed while Mi Max, Mi 5, Mi 5S, Mi Note 4X, Mi 5S Plus, Mi 4C, Mi 4S, Mi Mix, Mi Note and Mi Note 2 will be updated to Android 7.0, Mi 6, Mi 5C, Redmi 4X and Mi Max 2 will get 7.1.1 Nougat software update.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 was launched in India, earlier this year via offline stores and since then, a number of flash sales have come and gone, but still, there are some who are still waiting for getting their hands on the device.
